May I Have Your Attention Please?

Ladies and Gentleman, I would like to introduce to you, the newest members of the Sabin Man Clan, Mr. Nicholas D. Sabin and his new dirt bike.

Sabin family reunions and get togethers usually consist of all the guys going on a dirt bike ride, and the ladies catch up while they are gone. Needless to say Nick felt a bit left out. If Nick got to go he previously had to bum a bike from whoever had an extra but now thanks to his awesome Dad, he now has a bike of his own. Its is a Honda 450x. Nick took her out for a spin yesterday and as you can see, it was a great ride!

I'm sure this is only just one of the many adventures of Nick and his awesome new dirt bike I will get to blog about. Thanks Larry!

A Long Time Coming!

Hello my fellow bloggers! I thought it was about time to do an update on things. Remember this post? Well, I have kept up my working out/healthy eating and drum roll please... I have lost 23 lbs in just under 2 months!!! Woohoo! Which now means I am on the down hill slope to my first weight loss goal of 40 pounds. I'm really starting to notice a big difference in the way my clothes fit or rather don't fit and my muscles are starting to become toned. Its amazing the difference that I feel in the amount of energy that I have through out the day when I start out with a good work out. I have found many more yummy nutritional recipes like this one, that I will have to share with all of you! Life has been crazy busy the past few months and I now feel I am in dire need of a vacation but its hard to go anywhere when you don't have money so I unfortunately don't see going anywhere on a vacation in my near future. Oh well! Maybe I'll have to do one of those hip new stay-cations I keep hearing about. :o) Nick is doing really good in school. He's been getting A's and B's on his tests this quarter which is GREAT! At the end of this quarter we should find out what our fate will be for the next couple of years (if Nick will have to change his major/switch schools). Some of you may know that things didn't work out this year for his major so he will hopefully have some kind of direction as to what he should do to finish school. The past several weekends I have spent doing a lot of hair, which has been great to bring in a little bit of extra money but I haven't had anytime for blogging hence this LONG post! On Valentines day I did hair for a wedding, the bride looked beautiful! I also did my mom's hair a few weeks ago, which always is an all day affair because she has TONS of hair! She has a hip new haircut/color which has literally cut YEARS off of her! She looks wonderful! (There is a picture below) We celebrated my Dad's birthday and then we celebrated Carolyn's a week later. Only two of the five birthday's that we get to celebrate in March. Over the weekend we went to see the musical My Fair Lady that Kristl directed. We were so proud of her! High school aged kids are hard to deal with and to get focused and she got them to put on one heck of a show! Way to go Auntie K!
Tonight my brother Garrett had an awesome band concert. He even had a feature solo in Jazz band! He is such a talented musician, it makes me so jealous! Garrett plays the trombone, bass trombone and the cello. He also has taught himself how to play piano and trumpet. Not to mention he has perfect pitch when he sings!
This weekend we are going to see Nick's family. It is Amie's birthday and Brook is playing Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls this weekend. We are excited to see them. Its not very often that we get to see his family because they live 2+ hours away. There will be a post about our weekend with them I promise! I have to post about Nick's new toy he's getting this weekend anyway! Stay tuned to see what it is!

Bahamian Kabobs!

Here is a VERY yummy recipe that Nick and I tried a couple of weeks ago and are going to have it again one night this week. This recipe is actually from the restaurant Bahama Breeze we haven't actually ate this at the restaurant so we don't really have anything to compare it to but we still thought it was delicious! For those of you with large families, this recipe only serves two. Marinating: 8 Steak Chunks, 1 oz wt pieces (or chicken) Your Favorite Teriyaki Marinade ½ Cup PREPARATION: Marinate 4 hours in the refrigerator Kabobs: 8 Marinated Steak Chunks (Or Chicken) 1" pieces of your favorite vegetables as needed (we used Mushrooms and Bell Peppers) Bamboo or Metal Skewers 12" * If bamboo skewers are used, soak in water for one hour prior to use to avoid burning during the grilling process PREPARATION: Skewer the marinated steak and vegetables until the skewers are full. Be sure to leave a little space between the items on the skewer to ensure even cooking. Set Aside Kabob Basting Sauce: ¼ cup Orange Juice Fresh Squeezed (We used pre-made orange juice) ½ cup Pickapeppa Sauce or BBQ Sauce 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar 2 tsp Chopped Cilantro (Optional) PREPARATION: Mix the ingredients in a small bowl until evenly combined and set aside for grilling. Grilling: Place the kabobs on a well oiled, preheated grill. During the grilling process turn the kabobs over every 2 minutes and baste the cooked sides lightly with basting sauce to develop a glaze. Grill to your desired doneness and lightly season with salt and pepper before removing from the grill. Serve with your favorite side dish and Enjoy!!!

Dad

Today is my Dad's birthday, and I thought he deserved a little ditty on my blog for his special day. He is such a wonderful Father and I am so blessed to have him as my Dad. He has always worked so hard to provide my family, both physically and emotionally. He always tells us kids and my Mom how much he loves us, but is still the toughest man I know. My Father has played so many rolls in my life; coach, fan, teacher, friend, comedian, and comforter, but best of all my the best Dad in the world. Here are some pictures of us throughout the years.

No matter how old I get I will always be your little girl. I love you Dad! Happy Birthday!
