Birthday Fun!

For Makenna's birthday Nick, myself and our Mom's took Makenna to build-a-bear. We had so much fun! We ate lunch before we went to build-a-bear. Because it was her birthday, they brought her a perfect kid size ice cream sundae and sang happy birthday to her. She loved being sung to, she giggled and smiled the whole time. I unfortunately didn't get my camera out fast enough to take a picture of them singing, but I got pictures of her enjoying her delicious sundae.

Now BUZZED! This is also her new pose when you ask her to say cheese... fantastic!

Of all of the choices of animals Makenna had, she picked a monkey of all things. Nick's brothers both have build-a-bear monkey's, I'm sure it makes them proud that the monkey lives on!

Getting her birth certificate ready, Nick was at the computer next to her but she wanted to be important to. Nick and I named the monkey Phoebe because Makenna was to busy doing other things to help us. She has since renamed her Cocoa. So Cocoa it is!

Makenna also discovered the fun of an escalator yesterday. She made Nick take her up and down a billion times.

Two years ago today at 10:12pm our beautiful baby girl was born.

We became a family of three,

And I became a mommy for the first time.

Our tiny 7 lbs 2 oz baby started to grow and in a blink of an eye,

She turned ONE!

I blinked a second time and today she is TWO!

The last two years haven't always been easy but they have been the best of my life. I wouldn't trade this beautiful girl for anything! I love you Makenna Grace! Happy Birthday my sweet angel girl!

Party Time!

Makenna is turning two on Wednesday and we had a big party for her today! She LOVES Winnie the pooh, so we had a Winnie the Pooh themed party for her. Everything was pooh themed including the food. Here are pictures from her fabulous party today!

At the party we had:

Decorations.

Lots of yummy food including, Eeyore's rainy day meatballs, piglet's in a blanket, Roo's Kanga pouches,

Tigger tails, Rabbit's veggie patch, Christopher Robin's pink salad, Gopher dirt with Owl's book worms, Pooh's honey pot and delicious cake!

The kids agreed that the food was yummy!

They also ran around and played,

We played games like pin the tail on Eeyore.

I made a beehive pinata. The kids loved it! It was well worth my all of my time, effort and frustration as I watched the smiles on their faces as they hit it with all of their might. We had them hit it in order of age so they would all have a chance to hit it before it broke open. They actually all got to have two turns before Jared successfully broke it.

Opened presents. Makenna even had many little helpers opening her gifts.

We gave the kids adorable gifts which also served as center pieces on the "adult" tables. I painted the hunny pots, and filled them with Winnie the Pooh puzzles, bubbles, playdough, stickers, and a bag of gummy bears with a little note that read "a BEARY special thank you for coming to my party love, Makenna." They also all got to take a home a balloon.

We also had a LOT of fun! It was great watching the kids play and have fun together. Thank you to everyone that was able to come to the party today! We loved having you there and we appreciate your love and friendship to us!

Playing Dress Up!

As I mentioned in my previous post Makenna got a ton of dress up clothes for Christmas. I finally pulled out my camera and got a few shots of her playing today. She is at a great age and loves to pretend so these dress up clothes are right up her ally!

We had a great Christmas this year. Makenna is at such a great age and it was so fun to watch her open her gifts and get so excited about her new things. We spent Christmas Eve with my family and then headed to Gig Harbor for Christmas day. Here are pictures and a link to a video from our Christmas!

Coloring in her new book. She also got a body pillow and blanket from them. She got to open it a couple days early when my nieces and nephew opened theirs. Her pillow is winnie the pooh themed and it would be an understatement to say she loves it!

Christmas Morning with the Sabin's

Santa brought her the best kind of puppy. One that can move his head, bark, and give loves but won't use my carpet as his bathroom.

Tearing through gifts like a mad woman!

She got tons of dress up clothes from Grandma and Grandpa. She LOVES them! We have had a fashion show everyday since we have been home. I'll be sure to take more pictures to show the eclectic outfits she comes up with. Yesterday Nick captured her wearing super girl boots, a clown hat and two fairy wands.

Grandma and Grandpa also got her an adorable chest to put her new dress up clothes in. Nick's sister Amie painted the letters and the ladybug to make it personalized just for her!

The pictures of course only show a few things that she got for Christmas, our playroom now looks like a daycare blew up inside it with all of her new toys and gadgets. She is having so much fun playing and using her imagination! Thank you everyone who helped make this Christmas so wonderful for her!

Baby Sabin #2 is a........

As you can see we had our ultrasound today and found out we will be blessed with another baby girl! She appears to be a very healthy and active little baby on the ultrasound. She has a similar profile to Makenna's ultrasounds. It will be interesting to see how much they will look alike. Of course it's never a 100% guarentee on the gender but we got a pretty good look between her legs and there was no outdoor plumbing that we could see. :o)

Here is a profile look of baby #2, right under her chin you can see three little lines that are fingers.

This is just almost a full body shot, her head on the right and the rest of her body towards the left.

On the left you can see her two legs and her left hand reaching for her foot.

You can see her two tiny feet straight on, and they are crossed. Too cute!

Nick and I are really excited! Makenna doesn't quite get it yet but she'll figure it out soon enough. We are feeling very, very blessed; two little girls! Should be fun!

Breakfast with Santa

Yesterday our local children's activity museum hosted a breakfast with Santa. They had food, several craft activities for kids of all ages, plenty of fun things to do and a visitor from the North Pole. What could be better when your a kid? Makenna REALLY liked Santa from across the room but not at all on his lap! While waiting in line for her turn, she was very impatient and wanted nothing more than getting into the room with Santa. Once we got to the front, she wanted nothing to do with him except to get a candy cane. Maybe next year she'll like him more. At least the rest of event was fun for her. Here are couple of pictures from our morning with Santa!

First Snow of The Season

Today we got the first real snow of the season. It snowed about a week ago but it was melted by mid morning but today there was actually something to play in. We took full advantage of the snow and let Makenna play outside for while. She was in HEAVEN!! She loves being outside anyway but the snow made being outside even more fun! This was really the first time that she has been able to play in the snow and it was fun for Nick and I to watch her experience something new.

This Little Sweetie Is...

Can you read Makenna's shirt?? If you can't, it says this little sweetie is a big sister to be!! It is true, Makenna is going to be a big sister!! I am 15 weeks pregnant tomorrow, which makes me due the first week of May. Now that I'm well out of the first trimester, I am finally ready to spill the beans to the world that I'm pregnant! Nick and I are so excited! We are hoping that this little baby will cooperate next month and show us if we will have another girl or our first boy. Either way we will be thrilled! Although, I have to admit I would love to re-use the copious amounts of girl clothes Makenna has but, it would be wonderful to have a boy to. I'm sure if we had a boy, he would accumulate the same amount of clothes as Makenna has thanks to Grandma's, Auntie's, Uncles and our amazing friends.

I am finally feeling so much better the past couple of weeks and I don't have constant nausea anymore. I have gone about 2 weeks with no nausea at all! Hooray! I'm hoping this pattern keeps up... knock on wood! I am still pretty tired but I imagine that I will be tired for the next 20+ years that I will have kids at home and probably even after their gone. Haha!

A lot of people that already know we are expecting have asked if it was easier to conceive this time than it was with Makenna (To read that saga click HERE) and that answer is YES! We weren't necessarily "trying" to conceive it just kind of happened. Yes I know what your thinking, do they know how that "kinda happens?" We never thought we would be able to conceive without fertility treatments so after I finished breast feeding Makenna we never prevented pregnancy and look what we got! A VERY welcomed surprise! Before we found out we were pregnant, Nick and I had been talking about when to have another baby and we were going to start trying with in the next few months. We knew that when we got pregnant it was all the Lords timing and this little person is obviously meant to join our family now!

Some of you know that before I was pregnant with Makenna I found out that I have antiphospholipid syndrome which caused me to miscarry with prior pregnancies. So with her pregnancy and now with every additional pregnancy I have, I need to give myself heparin (blood thinner) injections twice a day, take ridiculous amounts of folic acid and a baby aspirin everyday until I'm 36 weeks along to help prevent any other miscarriages from happening. Even though I do NOT like giving myself shots twice a day, I am so thankful there is medicine out there that can help me stay pregnant with my beautiful babies!

Makenna will be a little over two when this little one arrives and I'm hoping this will be good timing for her. She loves her baby dolls. She likes to feed them, give them loves and have them wrapped in blankets. She likes real babies to but hasn't had much experience with them. I think she will make a great big sister! I know the adjustment from one kiddo, to two won't be easy for her (or us) but I'm hoping for the best. As things continue along, I will keep you posted on progress of baby Sabin #2. :o)

Makenna's First Haircut!

Makenna's hair is very curly & fine and is still pretty short but it was getting so scraggly and tangled on her ends and she was growing a bit of a baby mullet so I knew that it was time for a trim. I still cut hair at home so I put my scissors to good use and gave Makenna, her first haircut. She was pretty excited to sit up in my hair chair and have her hair played with. She did really well for her first trim. It of course helped that we had a movie playing to help her sit still. I only trimmed the very ends to even her hair out and fix the mullet issue but it makes a world of difference! Her hair is much more manageable, and maybe having the icky ends off will encourage her hair to keep growing! I can only wish right?

Trick or Treat!

Here in Ellensburg many of the downtown businesses participate in trick or treating. We met up with several of our friends and took all 6 of our kiddo's downtown for trick or treat. We had so much fun and loved being there with our friends even though we were FREEZING!!!

My Mom met us for a few minutes before heading home to get set up for her special trick or treaters!

In one of the businesses they had the place set up as a maze where princess Aurora and Maleficent met them at the end.

After we finished trick or treating downtown we went to my parents so Makenna could trick or treat there. Our friends also stopped by so their kids could get their special treats from my parents.

We then started to make our rounds to other grandma and grandpa's and of course auntie Tami's house. We got started late and didn't make it to Grandma and Grandpa Sabin's before Makenna crashed in the car. At least they got to see her in her costume a few days before.

Burning down the House!!

I don't think I have mentioned on my blog that Nick is training to be a fire fighter and EMT. He is hoping that after he gets a job with a fire department that he will be able to go back to school to get his paramedic license. Last Saturday during his training they got to burn down a house! The university purchased three homes near campus, one was bulldozed a couple of weeks ago and the other two will be used for fire training.

Nick is the one in front about to walk into the burning house (yikes!). He is a little easier to find in pictures than some of the others because his Jacket has yellow stripes and his pants have orange stripes.

Special Visitors

Last Friday Nick's Mom, Aunt Debbie and cousin Danny came to visit us. Debbie and Danny live in Salt Lake City, Utah and last week they were visiting Nick's family during their vacation. They were nice enough to come to E-burg to see us during their visit. We were so busy last week and it was a huge blessing that they were able to come to us! Since they were here and wouldn't see Makenna on Halloween day we put her in her costume for some pictures.

Makenna LOVES Danny!! They played together the whole time and Danny made all kinds of new games up for them to play. Including beat Danny with the tupperware, lovingly of course!

It was Grandpa Paul's birthday so we stopped at their house for a few minutes and Makenna showed us how perfect her costume is for her, because she is one BUSY bee!

Makenna and Aunt Debbie got to meet for the first time during this visit! They really liked each other to!

Of course we couldn't leave Grandma Sherrie out of the picture taking because she was there too!

A Fun Day At The Farm!

On Saturday we spent a fun family day at Remlinger Farms. It is a wonderful place for kiddo's of all ages and we had a BLAST!! Here are a few of the fun things we did at the farm!

She rode on a flying pumpkin. She had a HUGE smile the whole ride!

Played with tons of pumpkins. Check out those curls! They are my favorite!!

Rode a pony. Which was her FAVORITE thing we did that day!! She kept reaching down to pet the pony and said "oooh", and "yike it" (like it) a lot!

Stuck our faces in a bunch picture things just because it was fun. Well to me anyway, Makenna's face says otherwise.

Rode on a train! Which she also loved!

Ran through the pumpkin patch and got very muddy and dirty which we didn't mind at all!

Mitchell's Special Day

Last weekend my brother Mitch had the opportunity to go to the temple for the first time. It was a beautiful day in Seattle and we had a wonderful time getting to be with him in the temple.

Generations

The day before Brook left for his mission, the whole Sabin clan gathered in Ellensburg so everyone including Nick's grandparents could say their final goodbyes for two years to Brook. While everyone was together we took the opportunity to take a few generation shots with Grandma and Grandpa Sabin.

They aren't glamour shots by any means but they will be pictures we will cherish forever. Thanks for being such good sports Grandma and Grandpa!

Ellensburg Rodeo Parade 2011

Every labor day weekend the rodeo and fair come to Ellensburg and turn this little town into a bit of a crazy, crowded place. It's fun for the weekend but I think I can speak for all Ellensburg residence that we are happy when our small little town returns on Tuesday as the visitors leave town. The parade is always Saturday morning and it is a tradition to go with my whole family.

Stay-cation Part 2

Every summer in Olympia, the local children's activity museum puts on a big event called Sand in the City as their main fundraiser for the year. They bring loads of sand in and their sponsors make incredible sand sculptures. They have tons of activities for kids, especially kids that are around 3-10. It was a lot of fun and best of all it was free, with donations for the activities.

This one was my favorite, a winnie the pooh one. The character's we pulling Pooh Bear out of rabbit's house.

They had several sand pits for kids to play in. Nick briefly showed her how its done and she went to town. She LOVED the sand and was a very sad girl when we left.

Stay-cation Part 1

This summer our budget was pretty tight so for "vacation" we stayed with Nick's family and did things around the Harbor and went on small day trips. For one of the trips we of course had to go to the zoo! Nick's mom, sister Amie, and brother Taylor met us at the zoo the first day of stay-cation. We had so much fun!

Nick's favorite animals at the zoo were the penguins. They were so cute, animated and funny the day we were there.

Makenna loved watching the penguin's swim up to the glass. She kept telling them "hi" and waving at them.

She got her face painted for the first time. Makenna did so good!

Water Park Fun!

Yesterday our friends Alice and Brian invited us to the water park in Moses Lake with them and their twin's Casen and Libby. We loved being outside enjoying the sun, the water and GREAT friends! It was such a fun day!

Makenna loved everything about the park. She is such a water baby. Maybe it is time for swim lessons?

Casen thought this was the coolest place ever!

Makeover!

This is the mess we used to call Makenna's play room. To say it was in need of a makeover is an understatement!

This rubbermaid container that doubled as a toy box was about to be the death of me. Makenna liked to use it has a hiding spot, for things like mine and Nick's cell phones and it was close to impossible to find anything that may have disappeared into it.

The other day I decided I had enough and did a makeover to make this room to make it a fun, enjoyable and organized place for Makenna to play. Her toys now go into the book shelf drawers. She has a basket for her books and there are now pictures on the wall. Considering our small budget I think the play room turned out fantastic!

One of Makenna's favorite things in this room is the full length mirror and her basket of dress up things in front of it.

Makenna liked her new play room so much that she showed off her dance moves in front of the mirror for me. LOL!

I'm loving that she is enjoying her play room as much as I do, it is so much better!

Kid's Gig

All about Makenna

Now that our baby girl is almost 18 months old I figured it was about time to do a blog all about her.

She loves:

To run. She doesn't walk, she just runs everywhere her chubby legs will take her and she wants to go. She has the cutest little run, except when she's running away from us of course!
Playing outside. She would be outside from the second she wakes up until she goes to bed if we let her.
Talk. She says a few "real" words like ball, out sye (outside), Mommy, Da-yie (Daddy), wets go (let's go), num num (food), yay, and her new favorites NO and Don't! Most of what she says is in her own little language and she is very expressive with her hands and her facial expressions. If only we knew what she was saying.
Reading books. Usually when she is being really quiet she is doing something naughty but every once in a while when it gets quiet she is sitting quietly "reading" a book.
To dance and hear music. Whenever she hears music she starts dancing. We went to a wedding this last weekend and she danced the night away! Maybe she will want to be in ballet when she's a little older.
Bath time and playing in the water. Makenna is definitely a water baby. I will have to get her in swimming lessons soon. I'm sure she will love that!
Girly things. She loves shoes and anything that resembles a necklace or a bracelet she wears as one. In addition to necklaces and bracelets anything that has a strap she carries around as a purse.

Nick and I love:

Her smile and her laugh. She has the cutest little teeth and I love to see her show them off when she gives us a big smile. Makenna's laugh is so infectious! It's hard to not be happy when she is around especially when she is laughing.
When she cuddles with us. It doesn't happen very often, sitting still doesn't happen very often either so we cherish every second when she will cuddle with us and let us hold her for a minute.
Her wet and sometimes open mouth kisses and sweet hugs. She has become a very affectionate little girl. She blows lots of kisses all the time, and when she lets us hold her she will almost always give us a hug and a kiss.
That Makenna is not shy. It is a good and a bad thing but I love that she will say hi to our friends and family and is ready to play with anyone that will give her the time of day. She is such a ham and likes to please people.
Her curly hair. She finally has hair and I love that it is strawberry blonde and curly, curly, curly! I feel like her hair matches her fun personality.

For the most part she is a very happy girl but she does have the tenancy to be very dramatic. Like most girls I'm sure. Having a toddler comes with its own challenges but we love having her around and wouldn't trade her for anything. We love you Kenna bug! Our lives would be so boring with out you!

Brook's special day

Last Friday Nick's brother Brook went to the temple for the first time in preparation for his mission. He leaves in September for Rio De Janeiro, Brazil to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for two years. It was such a wonderful day and we enjoyed spending time in the lords house with Brook and our family.

4th of July

For the 4th of July, we went with my parents and my grandparents to a spot we love to go to on the Teanaway river. This spot is perfect for everyone. There are many trails to go on walks/hikes, water to play in, sun, shade, and LOTS of fun!

She loved the water! We couldn't keep her out of it, she would RUN into the water. Which made our trip a little scary because she would run without someone holding onto her. Our little girl definitely has NO fear! She now has a life jacket for our next trip to the river.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I will do a big update of what we've been up to another day but tonight I will just show off the fun we had today. We drove over to Gig Harbor last night to spend the weekend with family and today we went to the zoo! It was so much fun! Here are a few pictures from today. I will post again soon!

For the first time in our married lives we have a yard to take care of. We are so thankful for it but boy has it been a lot of work! We didn't have much to work with, except for a bunch of stinking weeds! The past few weeks have been spent trying to make our little home look presentable from the outside. Nick has been working VERY hard at getting the lawn to look nice and it is certainly getting there! My dad came over and trimmed a few trees and I planted flowers. It is still a work in progress but here is a look of our little home from the front.

And these are my beautiful flowers!!

It is so fun to watch our labors pay off and to see our yard and our flowers bloom! I can't wait to see it continue blossom into our little oasis!

First Trip to the Zoo

On Tuesday Nick and I took Makenna to the zoo for the first time. It was the first time that just the three of us have gone on a little adventure like this. It was so much fun! We happened to be there on what was probably the only warm sunny day, in Seattle, in April.

It was so fun to watch Kenna's face as she discovered all of the animals and the other fun things the zoo has to offer.

Makenna really loved the gorilla's. She waved and said "Hi" to them probably 1 million times.

The Woodland Park Zoo is huge! Nick and I probably walked 4-5 miles that day and Makenna walked most of them too. She loved being able to walk and run around outside.

Through out the trip we had a few very kind people take family photos of us.

While we were at the zoo, we saw many other toddlers and Kenna made several "friends."

She couldn't get enough of this little guy. She gave him hugs and even a kiss. She is so friendly that I have a feeling we are in for trouble.

The otters were probably her favorite animal of the day. Every time they swam by her she giggled, waved and said "oh Hi!" to them.

The grand finale of the day was the carousal. Kenna absolutely loved it! She kept saying "Oh WOW, Oh WOW!" It was very funny.

Here we are on our way out of the zoo with our souvenirs and a very tired baby in hand.

Taking Makenna to the zoo for the first time is a very wonderful memory I will always cherish. Everything about that day seemed to work out just perfectly. I couldn't have asked for a better day and I can't wait until we get to go back. Next time I think we'll try to drag grandma's and grandpa's along with us.

Fun in the Park

Today we took Makenna to the park. The weather was absolutely beautiful today and Makenna had a lot of extra energy to burn. What better way to wear out a toddler than to take her to the park?

Not only did she burn off that energy but she had so much fun!

While at the park we ran into Auntie Kara. She was there enjoying the weather as well. Makenna LOVES Kara and had so much fun playing with her.

My mom's office is just around the corner from the park so we asked her if she wanted to meet us there. Both my mom and my dad joined us at the park for a bit.

We're hoping the sudden change in the weather means spring in FINALLY here! Which in turn will make for many more trips to the park and time to spent outside.

Today is Nick's birthday! We have had a pretty fun day today so far. I took the day off of work today to stay home and celebrate his big day and Nick's parents came to town for a couple of hours today. We went out to lunch, and to see his grandparents. Nick even got to take a nap with Makenna today! I made one of his favorite meals, Chicken and dumplings and we had delicious ice cream cake.

It took 3 tries but I think this family photo isn't to bad for impromptu.

A Special Visitor

Last evening we had a very special visitor all the way from Salt Lake City! Nick's cousin Danny came to visit. Danny drove up to WA on a spur of the moment decision and we are so happy he did! He got to meet Makenna for the first time. She LOVED him and I'm pretty sure he loved her too! She was so funny, and showed off all of her tricks for him. We went out to dinner and ice cream and we gave him a tour of Ellensburg. If you have ever been to Ellensburg you know that didn't take long at all. Nick and I really enjoyed catching up with him.

Chick Days

Every year our local ranch and home store hosts chick days. They have huge tubs of baby chicks for people to buy or for people to come look at. My dad always took us as little kids so it is fun to now see my baby and her cousins get to go with Nana and Papa to chick days.

Ally was probably the most interested in the baby chicks. She was so sweet and gentle with them.

All the twerps lined up with the baby cute baby chick. The poor thing had to have been traumatized after being with these three for a couple of minutes. Like I said, Ally was sweet with it but Makenna hasn't learned how to be gentle yet and tried pulling at its feathers and its head, and Jared kept tapping its head.

We even ran into my cousin Becca and her beautiful girls Dailey and Skylee. We had fun standing in line together and visiting.

As I mentioned in the last post we went to Gig Harbor last weekend. Nick's family just got back from a trip to Disney World a few weeks ago and his siblings got mouse ears as part of their souvenirs. Makenna thought the mouse ears were toys and she played with Amie's almost all weekend.

If she didn't have mouse ears on she had a necklace on. Can you tell she is a girly girl?

Makenna enjoyed using the window sill as a bench too.

Happy Birthday to Amie! It was her 15th birthday!

See that lovely bruise on Kenna's forehead? It was previously a golf ball sized goose egg that she acquired after a run in with the hearth in front of the fireplace. It is amazing how fast little kids heal. Her poor head couldn't have felt good.

What more does a girl need when she already has an iPhone and a pretty necklace?

Grandma Sherrie took Makenna shopping. She bought her several fantastic things including her Easter dress. This is just a sneak peak. There will be better pictures of the dress closer to Easter time. Isn't it pretty?

Its hard to tell by her face in the picture but Makenna LOVED hanging out at the top of the stairs looking down at everyone and saying "hi!"

I think I've mentioned before that Makenna loves being read to. When she is being read to is about the only time she sits still these days. Here she is snuggled up with Grandma Sherrie reading one of my personal favorites, Corduroy.

There was a lot going on while we were there and Makenna didn't get good naps in. We must have really wore her out on Monday because she fell asleep eating dinner.

Makenna in the span of about two weeks has mastered the tasks of waving, walking, turning, bending over to pick things up without falling, and running. She also is working very hard on her vocabulary. She says Hi, Hey, Woah, Uh Oh, Dada, and book. I think there are a few others that I can't think of right now.

Lounging in her special chair. One of her favorite places to be. However she only sits on it when she's tired. She is usually standing or climbing on it. Which more often than not ends in a tumble of some sort.

I forgot to mention that my little beauty is 13 months old today. She is getting so big so fast!

Running all over the place!

She actually kept a band on her hair for a few minutes today. Long enough to take a few pictures at least. I love this picture. It captures her smiley, and playful personality.

Remember that blonde curly hair I mentioned in the last post? Well here it is!

I love watching her walk. Its amazing how quickly she mastered the art. One day she was walking around well, but she was using the wall or furniture to balance. The next day she used absolutely no assistance for balance. Nick and I now have to be careful when we're walking around because we have a shadow that we knock down on accident when we turn or stop to quickly.

She is so funny and makes us laugh everyday with the silly and cute things she does. She loves us to read her books and play music for her. She even shakes her cute little booty for us. Other than the limp noodle, fall to the ground kind of meltdowns she has every once in a while, she is such a happy, playful, silly girl. We couldn't be more in love with her!

Life with a one year old

We have been running crazy the past couple of weeks but we managed to snap a few pictures in of our cute girl. A week or two ago I was feeding Makenna her breakfast, got up to answer my phone and evidently I left her yogurt to close to her and this is the mess that happened.

Who needs a spoon when you can drink your yogurt?

Ignore the bruise on her head, it wasn't the first and wont be the last. Walking sure isn't for wussies.

We went to visit Nick's family two weeks in a row. It was great to see everyone. Makenna loves being the center of attention there.

She loved her bath in Grandma Sherries huge jetted tub.

The fridge was open at their house while the kids were putting grocery's away. Makenna thought it would be a big help to steal the apples.

Bossing people around. Nothing new there!

She played the harmonica with Auntie Amie.

These pictures are from Valentines day. Isn't her dress cute? These next two pictures pretty much sum up what she is all about lately. Running around all over the place!! If it showed her getting into things as well, they would be the perfect pictures to describe my baby girl!

Kenna is getting so big and so much fun! She is generally such a happy little girl. She amazes me everyday with how smart she is. She loves "reading" books and being read to, walking everywhere, her doll/blanket and bath time and bossing everyone around! Having a one year old is so fun!

P.S. Did you notice in the pictures that the hair fairy has finally came to visit? Makenna finally has hair. It is fine, blond and curly and far from me being able to do anything with it but I couldn't be more excited! I get a better picture of the hair soon. :o)

One Heck of a Party

On Sunday the 23rd we had a wonderful birthday party for Makenna. Her birthday wasn't until the 25th but we did the party early to make sure all of our family could be there to celebrate her special day.

Nick's family spent most of the day with us before the party. Makenna had so much fun playing with everyone!

I made 90+ cupcakes for the 30+ guests we were expecting for her party. I am not a professional cupcake decorator by any means but I think they turned out cute and they tasted great!

Makenna was in such a great mood and loved seeing more and more people come through the door.

She of course loved that the night was all about her and she got all of the attention!

One year ago today, I held my tiny 7#2 oz baby girl for the very first time. I couldn't believe she was finally here and how tiny and beautiful she was. Now I can't believe a year has already gone by and how big and beautiful she is. Happy Birthday Kenna Bug! We love you so much!

Just a Couple of Friends

You know those friends that everyone wishes they had? The kind of friends you see in the movies and on Sex and the City? Well, I happen to be lucky enough to have those kind of friends in real life. Not the best picture of us but here these wonderful ladies are, Kristl (top right), Sara (bottom right), and Alice (middle). I have known Kristl my whole life, and about five years ago she introduced me to Sara and Alice while we played on a softball team together. Over the last five years we have gone through so many things together and I couldn't ask for a better bunch of ladies to confide in. It is so fun when we can all get together and it definitely doesn't get to happen enough. It has been especially difficult to get together now that we all have kiddo's, jobs and Kristl lives on the other side of the country. Alice so kindly invited us over for dinner while Kristl was here visiting for the Holiday's. So good to have all of us back together again!

This is Sara's daughter sweet little Avery. The oldest of our brood of children. She just turned two in December. She is so petite, girlie and so full of life and energy. Avery is so sweet with the younger kids, she is going to be an amazing big sister in April to another little girl.

This is Kristl's son, sweet little Finn. He is already 7 months old. Its been fun seeing him do so many fun things the last couple of weeks. The last time we saw him he was only 3 months old. So he looks so big to us!

This is Alice's son Casen. He is almost 20 months old and is ALL boy! Casen loves dirt, trucks, and cars. I love listening to him run around making car noises. He is so fun!

This cutie pie is Casen's twin sister Libby. She likes to pretend she is shy but it doesn't take long for her to warm up and be her spunky little self. I just love her! These sweet little babies share their birthday with me.

This pretty girl of course belongs to me!

The night ended with three dirty bugs in the tub. Super cute!

Christmas in Ellensburg

Christmas Eve night we drove home from Gig Harbor so we could have Christmas in our new home and have our first Christmas morning together as a family of three. Makenna had so many other opportunities to open gifts that we thought it would be fun to have everything open and ready for her to play with when she got up Christmas morning.

We sat her on the opposite side of the living room with her back turned to her new toys. She turned around and this is her face as she squealed in excitement and crawled as fast as she possibly could to get to her new things.

Her little people farm was a hit!

Of course no new toy is properly broken in until it has been tasted.

We can't believe that Makenna is old enough that she has had her first Christmas already. Less than one month to her first birthday. 2010 has been the best year we have had so far. Christmas in Gig Harbor

On the 23rd we went to Gig Harbor to have Christmas with Nick's family. We had a great time! Makenna made a hall with gifts! She had so much fun playing with the kids and of course Grandma and Grandpa. To make sure she had plenty of things to play with Sherrie and Amie got out the bins with the kids old toys. I'm not sure if it was more fun for Makenna or for the kids to have their old toys back.

She is getting pretty creative with her mobility. She doesn't have walking on her own more then a few steps at a time quite figured out so she uses garbage cans, laundry baskets and apparently a little tykes race track to get herself where she wants to go. She is so silly!

She has a new play yard/portable crib at Grandma and Grandpa's house now so we had to test it out.

On Christmas eve we opened presents. The first present she opened was her new cell phone. She loves her phone and takes it just about everywhere with her around the house.

She also got a ride along pony, it makes music and horse noises. She hasn't figured out how to push it herself but she loves being pushed around on it. I think this picture is hysterical. Nick just placed the pony next to her and she put her hand up there and made this goofy face. Such a poser!

What we have been up to

We have been soooo busy! The beginning of this month we moved to a new place. I'll post pictures of our new home soon. We really love our new place, we have three bedrooms, a big backyard, 2 bathrooms and a washer and dryer in our home. I know its silly but it feels like such a luxury to have a washer and dryer in our place after using a laundromat for the past year and a half. The other thing that has occupied every other minute of my time after moving and unpacking is making Christmas outfits for my favorite little people. The idea of doing this huge project 3 dresses, 3 panties, 2 ties and 2 vests was much easier said then done. I finished Jared's vest around two in the morning today and took it to their house before church. Silly me for not thinking about adding length to this vest for one very long bodied little boy, because it was at least three inches too short. I was a little disappointed but luckily the vests are a piece of cake compared to the dresses and I have extra fabric so he will be getting a new vest soon. He did get to wear his new tie though, and they had a vest that still fit from last year that he got to wear with the tie instead. The hours, tears, money, late hours and frustration paid off today when I saw all of the kids in their Christmas outfits at church. The kids all looked so beautiful!

It's official ladies and gentleman, my baby is WALKING!!!! Makenna took her first steps tonight. I can't believe how fast my baby growing! I wish I could freeze her for just a little bit so I can have more time to enjoy her at every stage.

We have a walking baby now. So I guess, let the games begin!!

I apologize for not updating in so long but we have been a bit busy. This is what we have been up to.

Makenna is 9 months already! She is growing and changing so much everyday. She bounced back from her little eye surgery like nothing ever happened. The day after she was a little out of sorts but the 2nd day after she was back to our busy little bug again. Makenna is such a busy, busy, busy girl! She crawls and walks along the furniture and gets into EVERYTHING!!

Our little girl has been quite the party animal lately, the first birthday she celebrated was my cousin Becca's little girl Dailey's birthday. She turned 4 and had a costume party.

Allyson turned 2! She was such a cute little birthday girl! I can't believe it has been two years already!

At Ally's party Great Papa Pinky feed Makenna, her first ice cream. He was so proud of himself for being naughty and giving her ice cream.

We took Makenna trick or treating for the first time. We only went a few places because she is to little for candy so we just took her out to show off her adorable lady bug costume.

November 1st my brother Aaron and his wife Carolyn welcomed another beautiful baby girl. They named her Carys Morgan.

Jared turned 4!!! It is so hard to believe that this cute little boy is 4 already! Where has the time gone??

Kenna loved getting to eat birthday cake 2 weeks in a row! As you can tell by the clapping, she loves cake!

She has a new toy, a push walker, the first couple times she used it she didn't have very good control so she kept falling and getting frustrated. It didn't take her long to figure it out and now she cruises all over my parents house. Pretty soon she will be taking off with nothing to help balance her. She is getting so big!

Hopefully I will have time to update more before she is ten months old. It seems I have only averaged 1 post per month since Makenna has been born. I will try to be better but I'm not making any promises! :o)

Surgery Day

Today was surgery day for Makenna. Before the surgery, even though she was beyond hungry she was all smiles and flirted with everyone that would give her the time of day. I was expecting her to be mad, mad, mad because she couldn't eat but she did amazingly well. She slept the during the 2 hour car ride there which helped. We arrived early to the surgery center so we had a bit of a wait and she even did great with that. She made me a very proud Mama.

After waiting for quite sometime we got to go back with her into the induction (anesthesia) room until she was asleep. They gave her some-kind of gas through a mask to help her fall asleep. Once she was out we left the room. It wasn't until she was already asleep that they put her IV in and her trachea tube for breathing. It was apparent that at children's hospital this wasn't the first time they have needed to put a baby under general anesthesia. Her surgery was about 45 minutes or so. Her doctor came and told us that she did great during the surgery and that she was able to do the less invasive of the two types of surgeries for blocked tear ducts. Before she finished telling us about the surgery and what we should be expecting, the recovery nurse came to get us. Makenna was already starting to wake up. I thought watching her be put to sleep was hard enough, I had no idea what I would be expecting when we got to the recovery room. She was so upset and it just broke my heart to see my baby hurting. This has was by far the hardest thing I have had to do as parent to date. Makenna seemed so scared (as I would have been too). She we was crying so hard, her voice was raspy from the trachea tube and wasn't fully awake so she couldn't focus on the fact that Nick and I were with her again. She didn't start calming down until they gave her some more IV pain meds and she ate some food. By the time she was about to be discharged from recovery she was smiling and waving at her nurse but still wasn't quite my happy girl partially the drugs made her a little loopy and tired.

She slept the whole way home and has been in fairly good spirits this afternoon. Its hard to tell in the pictures but her face is a little swollen and she will most likely have two black eyes but she should be back to normal in a week or so. We feel so blessed that our heavenly father was watching over our sweet little angel today and everything went so well. We had a much better experience then we thought we would at the hospital today. Her Doctor was amazing, as well as the anesthesia team and her nurses. I'm so thankful that they were there to take such good care of our sweet little Makenna. Thank you for being such a brave, good girl today baby girl! I love you my sweet little Kenna Bug!

Eye Appointment Update.

Today we took Makenna to children's for her eye appointment. First of all I have to brag a little bit, she was such a good baby all day! Everything was kind of hurry up and wait and then she was dragged around all over Bellevue while Nick, My Mom, Nick's Mom and I got some shopping done. She went a whole day with no major melt downs. It was awesome! She first had a complete eye exam including getting her eyes dilated, before the Dr came in to see us. We found out that she has perfect vision and she is in good ocular health, other then those pesky tear ducts. The Dr was very nice and was great with Makenna. Both Nick and I were very impressed. She answered all of our questions and told us that surgery was probably the best thing for her to get the ducts unclogged. We then scheduled the surgery for next Monday. The surgery itself will take less than an hour but we will need to be there about an hour early for pre-op stuff, and then she will have an hour of recovery after to make sure she comes out of anesthesia ok. I wasn't ever nervous about Makenna having surgery before when I knew it was a possibility, but now that it is a reality and only a few days away, I'm getting a little nervous. I just hope she reacts well to the anesthesia and that things go as planned. I will let you know how things go after Monday, and hopefully I will have nothing exciting to report other then she has unclogged ducts. Please keep our sweet Makenna in your prayers, Monday that things will go as planned.

Makenna, Makenna, Makenna

So I thought that it was about time to do an actually update on this beautiful 8 month old baby rather then just pictures.

First things first, her eyes. From the time that she was born she has had clogged tear ducts in both eyes. For most babies, they go away with a little bit of massaging and and growing but her's haven't. This is why in many of her pictures like the one below, her eyes look teary and goopy. For the most part clogged tear ducts are harmless but they do make babies more susceptible to infections. About 2 weeks ago I had mentioned how lucky we are that she hasn't gotten an infection and sure enough two days later she woke up with one of her eyes almost swollen shut, super goopy and sad looking. The next day I took her to the doctor and sure enough she had an infection. Tomorrow we go to Seattle Children's ophthalmology clinic to get her ducts looked at and figure out which procedure they will do to fix them. This appointment as been scheduled for over 2 months so for her to get an infection 2 weeks before was kind of ironic.

We now have a mobile baby! Makenna is crawling! For the most part she does an army crawl but the past day or two she does a couple of "scoots" on her hands and knees. Either way she now gets to just about what ever she wants. She also can sit herself up from laying down, pulls herself up and walks along the furniture, and walks well with assistance. She is getting so big so fast!

Her favorite toys are of course not actually toys, they are laundry baskets, water bottles, cell phones, boxes, and other household items. You get the picture.

This little girl is super flexible. Maybe she'll be a gymnast. Who knows?

In other news, she "talks" a LOT and is starting to make noises that are sounding a lot like words. When she is crabby or mad she yells MaMaMaMaMaMaMom! I haven't quite decided if what she's says really is Mama/Mom. She has 4 teeth, her two front top teeth and 2 teeth on the bottom. She weighs 19#8 oz, and is 27" long.

She grows and changes everyday and is so much fun to have around. She is a little ray of sunshine and we can't imagine how boring our lives would be with out this silly little girl around.

The song that you hear playing has inspired today's post. The song is call "Good Life" and I indeed have a very good life!

I have a husband who loves me in-spite of my occasional crabbiness, random crying spells and all of my other faults. He is a great dad and loves our little girl with all of his heart and it is so apparent every time he looks at her. I wouldn't make it without him by my side. I love you Nick!

I am blessed to be a parent to the most beautiful baby girl in the whole world. Being a Mom is the hardest job I have ever had and I wouldn't change it for the world. I love watching her grow, learn, smile, laugh, play and give cuddles. She is growing so fast and I wish I had more time at home to just sit and be amazed by her enjoy all of the new things she learns and does everyday. I love you my sweet Makenna Grace!

I have the worlds best parents! They have always worked so hard so my brothers and I could have all of the things that we needed. Both my mom and dad have always been the best examples of love, selflessness, hard work and compassion. I appreciate all of the things that they have always done for me and continue to do everyday. I love you Mom and Dad!

In addition to my parents I have great parent in-laws! They have gone out of their way so many times to help us out when we needed them. Thank you for welcoming me into your family so generously and for raising the best Man I could have ever have asked for! I love you Both!

I am blessed to be the only girl in crew of 3 "big" brothers. Aaron- Thank you for always being my big protective brother and being a great example to me in so many ways. Thank you for giving me my first "sister" and making me an auntie to the cutest 2 1/2 kids! Mitchie- I love that we have always been so close and are still the greatest of friends. Thank you for always being there for me when I needed you most! Garrett- Baby brother! You have taught me so many things even as the youngest. You inspire me with your musical abilities and always seem to amaze me with your talent. I love you my brothers!

I have wonderful brothers and sisters in-laws. I love that they have all accepted me as one of their own. It is so fun to add to my family and I always enjoy the time that I get to spend with them. I love you Carolyn, Kristin, Ryan, Brook, Amie, and Taylor!

We are poor, we don't have everything we need or want, I hate our apartment, but we have a roof over our head, I have a job that I enjoy waking up for that allows me to pay for the apartment I hate, we have food on the table, and a home full of love so I don't have anything to complain about.

I have a GREAT life!

A Little Girl and Her Daddy

This little girl loves, loves, LOVES her Daddy. Her face never lights up for anyone as much as it does when Nick walks through the door after work. The little primary song "I'm so glad when Daddy comes home" is her new favorite song. I like to sing it to her before he gets home and she laughs and giggles and couldn't be more excited to see her Daddy at the end of his work day.

Weekend in the Harbor

Weekend before last we took a trip to Gig Harbor for a quick visit. Makenna was the loved spending time with the family and was the life of the party. She so desperately wanted to keep up with the big kids that she refused to go to sleep until almost midnight. Here she is playing with the "big" kids.

Playing peek-a-boo barn with Uncle Taylor. Lounging with Auntie Amie and playing with her necklace. Uncle Brook made an excellent jungle gym. Several weeks ago Makenna started sitting up by herself and is now a pro!

Brook left for BYU this last weekend so we had our final goodbyes on Sunday night. Good luck at school Brookie! We will miss you! See you Thanksgiving weekend!

Sweet Mr. Finn and his wonderful parents Kristl and Aaron had to go back to Indiana a couple of weeks ago. Before they left we did a photo shoot with the two babies. They won't see each other until Christmas and I can't wait to see how they interact.

Great Grandpa Pinky and Great Grandma Judy with the newest great grandchild and the newest grandchild. Makenna wanted to hold his hand so badly but he didn't really seem to care either way. I have a feeling as they get older she will continue to be the bossy one and he will just be laid back.

Pool Party

Yesterday the weather was 100+ degrees so my parents threw a pool party for the grandbabies. Makenna didn't care too much for the water so instead she lounged in her chair like she was the queen.

You would think she's sunbathed before, she looks like a pro These two however couldn't stay out of the water, I think their faces say it all!
